A pellet machine can be used for various different purposes, however the core principle, of a pellet machine is used to reduce the volume of a raw material and increase the materials specific gravity and density. This means converting the raw material into pellets via processing it through the machine.

Pellet machines have been used for over a century to reduce the volume of animal feed products and to produce specific feeds for specific animals. Different feed formulas can be created with different minerals and vitamins that certain animals require in a healthy diet. This feed formula is then compressed into pellets in the pellet machine.

Wood shavings have been traditionally used for horse bedding, however it has been shown that the dust contained within the shavings can cause health problems for the horses and breathing problems. Through the use of pellet machines, it is possible to turn the wood shavings into pellets. These pellets are very absorbent and have little or no dust.

Wood Pellets

Within the last decade fuel pellets and specially wood pellets have been taken seriously as an alternative to oil and gas. Wood pellets behave like a liquid, and flow easily through hopper systems. The high density of the pellets also means a higher combustion temperature and low maintenance.
